Federal Radio’s mission is to provide high quality two-way voice radio service at the best value to our customers using advanced technologies to further efficient use of valuable spectrum. Natural disasters such as storms and earthquake bring to light just how important it is to have working radio systems in place to support emergency communications. Shelter in Place and Evacuation protocols as specified by FEMA and Dept of Homeland Security recommend two-way radio as the best form of emergency communications. Technologies such as our popular FedSMR-D digital trunked radio service, Ready To Go kits and the newest Digital radios with built in GPS can be tailored to your operation.
FedSMR-D radio system is built to supply US federal government agencies and qualified government contractors high quality two-way digital radio service. Digital radio combined with IP technology provided the platform to build radio systems tailored to customer needs including specific in-building / campus coverage. Prior to IP site linking and low power digital frequency reuse, the cost of extending radio signals into buildings required expensive bi-directional amplifiers and extensive distributed antenna system. Now with IP linking low power repeaters can be installed in the building and only a few antennas inside the will provide total in-building radio coverage. Thus saving the government millions in distributed antenna system costs.
FedSMR-D Gen2 is our newest platform built on open standard technology which give you the choice of multiple vendor radios. Currently certified to operate with Motorola, Kenwood, Harris / Tait and Hytera*.
The use of IP technology allows the radio systems to be linked selectively to provide coverage where you need it when you need it. Ready to Go linked repeater packages have been created to support mobile and emergency missions.
* Hytera Radios are not currently being placed in service due to the governments restriction on use of listed Chinese technology
